PHOENIX, Jan. 16, 2018

Azcentral.com, a member of the USA Today Network, recently published a brief guide to what they deem are the top “12 barrier-free trails in the Phoenix metropolitan area.” Whether you’re hiking for the fresh air, breathtaking scenery or simply daily exercise, these trails are surely a sight for sore eyes, as well as physically feasible for individuals with different levels of mobility. Each trail is equipped to handle devices ranging from wheelchairs to scooters, all the while maintaining the integrity and natural beauty of the Phoenix landscape. Unique features of these parks range from interpretive signs complete with braille (Judith Tunell Accessible Trail, South Maintain Park Preserve) to partially paved trails (Nature Trail, Reach 11 Recreation Area) to benches scattered throughout the parks in conveniently located and comfortable spots.
